Pareto est une librairie de patchs conçus pour le logiciel OpenMusic de l'IRCAM qui présente trois fonctionnalités:
1) Transcrire un fichier acoustique de fondamental d'un signal (Diphone, Audiosculpt, Spear, etc..) en information musicale (en midicents ou herz exacts, ou en notation musicale approximée en demi-ton, tiers de ton, quart de ton, huitième de ton, si ce n'est plus)
2) Aider à analyser les échelles de hauteur du fichier musical en offrant différents outils statistiques (notes les plus présentes, courbes, moyennes mobiles temporelles, etc...)
3) Pouvoir modifier ou ajuster le fichier musical selon d'autres hypothèses d'échelles ("placebo", discrétisation, etc..) et, grâce à une microtransposition contrôlée de SVP, effectuer les mêmes modifications d'échelle sur le fichier sonore original.
Pareto is a library of patches made for the software Open Music from IRCAM which offers three functionalities:
1) To transcribe an acoustic signal of the fundamental (from Diphone, Audiosculpt, Spear, etc..) into musical information (in exact midicents or herz, or in musical notation approximated in half-tone, third of tone, quarter-tone, eight of tone, ore more)
2) To propose statistical tools (curves, most present frequencies, mobile average, etc..) to help to determine the scale of the musical signal.
3) To change or adjust the musical signal with new hypothesis (new scale, or discretisation, etc..), and then to make similar changes of the scale on the acoustic signal itself (through microtransposition on SVP).

Cet ensemble de patch a été réalisé par Fabien Levy, avec l'aide technique et les conseils de Jean Bresson, Carlos Agon, Gerard Assayag, Hans Tutschku et Frederic Voisin pour une mission ethnomusicologique en juillet 2001 dans la plaine Tikar du Cameroun (Nathalie Fernando, Fabien Lévy, Fabrice Marndola, directeur scientifique de la mission : Simha Arom).
This set of patches has been written by Fabien Levy, adapted into an Open Music library by Jean Bresson, with the technical and ethnomusicological help and advises from Carlos Agon, Simha Arom, Gerard Assayag, Jean Bresson, Fabrice Marandola, Hans Tutschku and Frederic Voisin for an ethnomusicological travel in July 2001 to Cameroon (Nathalie Fernando, Fabien Lévy, Fabrice Marndola, scientific director: Simha Arom).
Pour installer Pareto / to install Pareto
1) Configuration: OpenMusic (version 6 ; Download OpenMusic here), on Mac G4 or Intel ; Ircam Software Audiosculpt or freeware Spear or any FFT software (for the spectral analysis) ; Audiosculpt or SuperSVP for the resynthesis of the sample under new hypothesis. Pareto utilise quelques librairies pour OpenMusic que l'on peut télécharger ici ; Pareto uses some OpenMusic librairies that can be found here.
2) Pareto est une librairie de OpenMusic/Pareto is a library of Open Music. Télecharger librement Pareto ici (6,9 Mo; aller en bas, à la section 'More OM libraries") et le décompresser/ download Pareto here (6,6 Mb, go to the bottom of the page, section "More OM libraries") and decompress it.
3) Le dossier Pareto est à installer tel quel dans le dossier OpenMusic/libraries / This folder must be installed in the folder OpenMusic/Userlibraries.
4) The libraries OM_ASX and OM-SuperVP are requested to run Pareto. There are included with the Ircam Forum Open Music version.
5) Open OpenMusic, and then the library Pareto. Be careful to have in your preferences the right path for the SVP software.
